Sustain Agri

Natural rubber traceability, from plot to finished lot.

Built by VHHC for the rubber it sells, and deployed with advice for other companies in the rubber chain. Supports the EUDR due diligence statement (DDS).

EUDR

Data behind the DDS

Sustain Agri supports preparing the due diligence statement (DDS) under EUDR for each finished natural rubber lot. The DDS file draws on the data groups in the system.

  • Plot location The boundary of each plot that supplied latex to the lot, or its GPS point and area where no boundary is recorded.
  • Deforestation check Satellite data for each plot, checked against the EUDR cut-off date of 31 December 2020.
  • DDS file per lot Prepared in Sustain Agri by the party compiling the statement, after sign-in.

How it works

From smallholder plot to finished bale

Sustain Agri is built for each party in the natural rubber chain: smallholders, dealers, processing factories and trading companies. Origin data follows the rubber from the smallholder's plot to the finished bale and pallet. It covers field latex, sheet rubber and SVR bales.

  1. 1

    Plot

Each smallholder plot is recorded as a boundary or a GPS point, with its land documents. Sustain Agri checks the plot against satellite data for the 31 December 2020 cut-off.

  2. 2

    Collection

Latex moves from smallholder to dealer. Each tank carries the origin data of the plots that supplied it.

  3. 3

    Factory

At the factory, origin data stays linked to the rubber through processing, up to the finished lot. Latex mixed from several sources takes the lowest traceability level among them.

  4. 4

    Finished lot

Sustain Agri calculates each finished lot's traceability level and the share of its weight, in kg, from identified plots.

  5. 5

    Lookup and DDS

The lot code opens a public lookup page. After sign-in, Sustain Agri supports preparing the DDS for the lot.

What it does

Plot location

Each plot is recorded as a boundary polygon or a GPS point and shown on a satellite map. Boundaries can be drawn on imagery or entered from land-certificate coordinates.

Deforestation check

Each plot is checked against satellite data for the 31 December 2020 cut-off, using its recorded boundary or point.

Internal land document checks

Sustain Agri records how each plot's land documents were checked (self-declared, from a photo or against the original) for VHHC's internal control.

Chain of handovers

Origin data follows each tank of latex from smallholder to dealer to factory. At the factory, origin data stays linked to the rubber through processing, up to the finished lot.

Two ways it is used

Built for VHHC lots, offered to other companies

For VHHC lots

What a buyer of VHHC rubber can look up

VHHC will apply Sustain Agri to its own natural rubber lots, so a buyer can look up a lot and see where its rubber came from.

  • Public lookup Enter a lot code, without an account. The page shows the lot code, grade, production date, factory, total weight and number of bales. For each plot it shows the plot code, area, province or country, and its boundary or location on the map.

For other companies

A solution with implementation advice for your supply chain

Factories, dealers and natural rubber trading companies that need to prepare a DDS under EUDR can set up Sustain Agri for their own supply chain. VHHC advises on the setup.

  • Smallholder

Each plot is recorded as a boundary or a GPS point, with its land documents.

  • Dealer

Latex collected from smallholders, tank by tank, with the source plots.

  • Factory

At the factory, origin data stays linked to the rubber through processing, up to the finished lot.

  • Trading company

Traceability level and kg share per lot, public lookup, and DDS file after sign-in.

Traceability by weight

Sustain Agri calculates each lot's traceability level and the share of its weight, in kg, from identified plots. Latex mixed from several sources takes the lowest level among them.

DDS file and public lookup

Sustain Agri supports preparing the DDS under EUDR for each finished lot. Anyone with the lot code can open a public lookup page, without an account, to see the lot details and its plots on a map.

Scope and limits

What Sustain Agri covers

  • Sustain Agri applies to natural rubber only. It supports preparing the DDS and does not issue certification.
  • The land document check level is an internal control and is not shared with buyers.
  • Latex mixed from several sources takes the lowest traceability level.
  • Screenshots show test data.
